Modern Therapy for High-Achieving Women in San Francisco

Support for anxiety, relationship struggles, attachment trauma, and the quarter-life crisis.

Life in San Francisco can be exciting, ambitious, and deeply rewarding—but it can also come with intense pressure. In a city known for innovation, high expectations, and demanding careers, many high-achieving women find themselves constantly striving to keep pace.

The culture of productivity and success can make it easy to stay in “achievement mode,” whether you’re moving through long days in SoMa, heading into meetings in Financial District, or wrapping up work in Mission District—always working toward the next goal while quietly carrying stress, anxiety, or self-doubt beneath the surface. Even women who are thriving professionally may feel overwhelmed by the pressure to perform, succeed, and have it all together.

I work with women in San Francisco who often appear capable and high-functioning on the outside, but internally feel anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected. Many describe a sense of going through the motions—checking all the boxes, yet feeling unsure of whether the life they’re building actually feels like theirs.

Therapy offers a space to step out of that constant push for more and slow things down to reconnect with yourself—your values, your relationships, and the life you want beyond the expectations.

The intention isn’t to step away from ambition, but to build a life that feels as good internally as it looks externally—one that feels aligned, present, and genuinely your own.

Therapy for women in San Francisco navigating anxiety, relationship patterns, self-loss, and the quarter-life crisis.

Change is possible, even if, from the outside, your life already looks “together.” With the right support, you can develop a deeper understanding of yourself, untangle the patterns keeping you stuck, and move through your life with clarity and intention instead of constant pressure or anxiety.

I specialize in working with high-achieving women in San Francisco and the Bay Area—women who might be building careers in Financial District offices, navigating the fast pace of SoMa, or living in neighborhoods like Pacific Heights, Marina District, or Noe Valley. On the outside, things may look polished and successful—but internally, there can be a sense of disconnection, overwhelm, or quiet unfulfillment.

My approach blends relational therapy, existential exploration, and evidence-based tools. My style is collaborative, warm, and gently challenging.

Therapy with me isn’t just about coping—it’s about recalibrating. Together, we’ll slow things down, explore what feels misaligned beneath the surface, identify the patterns that are no longer serving you, and redefine success in a way that actually feels aligned with who you are.

Hi, I’m Abby, An existential therapist for women in san francisco.

I help high-achieving women in San Francisco feel more connected to themselves and more confident in the life they’re building.

Whether you’re building a career in a high-performing, fast-paced environment, navigating relationships alongside ambition, or questioning the path you’re on, therapy offers space to slow down and hear yourself more clearly. In San Francisco, where achievement, innovation, and constant growth are often the norm, it’s easy to stay in your head—analyzing, optimizing, and pushing forward—while feeling increasingly disconnected from yourself. Together, we begin to understand who you are beneath expectations, while making sense of patterns shaped long before now.

Specialized therapy in San Francisco for women who want a life that feels intentional, grounded, and deeply authentic—especially within the fast pace and high expectations that can come with living and working in places like SoMa, Financial District, or Mission District.

Together, we’ll slow things down and create space to notice what feels misaligned—something that’s often hard to access in a city that’s always moving, whether you’re navigating packed mornings along Market Street or trying to find a moment of quiet between everything you’re holding. We’ll gently untangle the patterns that no longer serve you and explore what it means to live in a way that truly reflects who you are—beyond the pressure to keep up, achieve more, or have it all figured out.

What Our Work Together Might Look Like —

Whether we look at your relationships, emotional patterns, values, or sense of self, we’ll do so from a holistic view. Together, we may explore:

  • We’ll clarify what matters most to you and use that as a compass for decisions and boundaries.

Many high-achieving women are used to meeting expectations, staying productive, and keeping everything running smoothly—often at the expense of their own needs.

In therapy, we slow down and identify the values that actually feel meaningful to you, not just the ones you’ve been taught to prioritize.

  • We’ll identify patterns that spike anxiety and practice more grounded, realistic ways of responding. Anxiety often follows familiar loops—like overthinking decisions, feeling responsible for everyone else’s needs, or putting intense pressure on yourself to get everything right.

In therapy, we’ll slow those moments down and look at what’s driving them so you can start responding differently. Over time, you’ll learn practical ways to calm your nervous system, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and approach situations with more clarity, balance, and self-trust.

  • You’ll learn tools you can actually use in real life to regulate stress and build resilience. Instead of just talking about what’s hard, we’ll focus on practical strategies that help you steady yourself in the moment—whether that’s calming your nervous system, interrupting spirals of overthinking, or creating small habits that make daily stress feel more manageable.

Over time, these tools help you respond to challenges with more flexibility and confidence, rather than feeling overwhelmed or stuck in the same patterns.

  • We’ll explore how old dynamics show up in current relationships, and we’ll work on how to shift them. Many of the patterns that create tension or anxiety in relationships—like people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, or fearing conflict—often have roots in earlier experiences.

In therapy, we’ll gently unpack these patterns and notice how they continue to play out in your life today. From there, we’ll practice new ways of communicating, setting boundaries, and showing up in relationships so they feel healthier, more balanced, and more aligned with who you are now.

  • We’ll strengthen confidence and create goals that match who you are (not who you “should” be).

Many people have spent years following expectations from family, work, or culture, which can make it hard to know what they genuinely want.

In therapy, we’ll sort through those pressures and focus on what feels meaningful and authentic to you. From there, we’ll set goals that feel realistic and aligned with your values, helping you move forward with more clarity, self-trust, and direction.

  • Therapy is your space to talk about anything and everything. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for, but it’s often helpful for me to understand your past experiences so I can best support you in the present.

In our first few sessions, we’ll focus on your background, current challenges, and goals for therapy. As we continue, you’re welcome to bring in whatever is on your mind, whether that’s anxiety, relationship struggles, work stress, life transitions, body image, sexuality, or anything else that feels relevant. Nothing is off the table in therapy!

Therapy is a process that takes time, consistency, and patience. You can expect a collaborative experience with a balance of compassion, curiosity, and honest feedback designed to help you grow, heal, and create lasting change in your life.

  • Online therapy is just like in-person therapy, but you meet from the comfort of your own space using a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform.

Before our appointment, you’ll receive a private link to join. At your scheduled time, just click the link and you’ll be connected.

Try to find a quiet, comfortable space where you can speak freely and focus on yourself. I also recommend setting your device to “Do Not Disturb” to help minimize any interruptions.

You can join from a laptop, iPad, or smartphone — whatever is most convenient for you.

  • Like most specialty providers, I am out of network. I’m happy to provide a superbill (receipt) you can submit to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients are able to receive partial reimbursement this way. You may also use HSA/FSA funds to pay for therapy sessions.

For more information about my fee, please see my FAQ page here.

  • I find that I work best with clients who are motivated for therapy and feel ready to create meaningful change in their lives. My approach tends to resonate most with people who are interested in exploring the root cause of patterns rather than seeking a quick fix or surface-level solutions.

You’ll likely get the most out of our work together if you’re open to exploration, feedback, and self-reflection, and if you’re committed to showing up consistently for yourself and the process.

My approach is also very relational, meaning I see our relationship as the foundation for healing and growth. This is why therapeutic fit is so important.

If you feel ready to invest in your personal growth and commit to the process, there’s a good chance we’ll be a great fit. I’ll bring my full presence and care to our sessions, and I ask that you come equally invested in your own growth journey.

  • Yes! I’m licensed in both California and Texas, which means I’m able to work with clients throughout each state.

  • If you’re ready to begin therapy, I recommend booking an appointment directly through my online calendar here. Once your appointment is confirmed, you’ll receive your new client intake forms. Please review and sign them at least 48 hours before your scheduled session to avoid an auto-cancellation.

If you’ve read through my FAQ’s and the information doesn’t answer your questions, or if you’d like to connect before scheduling, feel free to reach out through my contact form →
